I think common sense is missing from pretty much every aspect of society. And I totally agree, Donnie! Wish I’d thought to include that point myself. I think the reason I didn’t is because I so rarely know more than anybody else does about anything. Seriously, I can barely operate a TV remote control. I should not be trusted with expensive things.

Don’t try to sell me something that you don’t know anything about!
I hate knowing more than the salesperson about the product that they are trying to sell me. Show some initiative and learn about what you are trying to pawn off on me.

Unbelievable! You are spot-on, Jeff. I think that common sense is missing from some members of society. If one is in the retail sales business it would seem that they would want to sell items however, in the scenarios you mention above, they obviously do not.

Jeff, I do agree that automated systems can be abused or overdone. But I tend to blame the users, and not the actual systems for that, because they’re using the system wrong. They’re over-relying when they should be just using it to augment communication.

Thanks for the well wishes, and apologies for the missing months. Personal life has been a bit hectic lately, and this ended up being one of the duties I put on the backburner for a while. I should get it up and running again soon, though. So keep checking in – I promise it will once again eventually be worth it.
